
Andrew Omote Edjobeguo is a Nigerian-born sculptor and multidisciplinary artist from Orhoakpor in Delta State. He earned his first degree in sculpture from the University of Benin and a National Diploma in Art and Industrial Design from Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State.
Edjobeguo’s art is deeply influenced by his personal experiences, environmental challenges, gender equality, and social and cultural dynamics. He has developed a unique bronze casting technique that gives his sculptures distinctive textures and forms, allowing them to interact meaningfully with their surroundings.
In 2019, Edjobeguo participated in the [Re:]Entanglements exhibition at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology in Cambridge, UK. This exhibition showcased contemporary artistic responses to colonial-era ethnographic collections from West Africa, including Nigeria and Sierra Leone. And also participated in “The Young Contemporary Boot Camp hosted by Rele Art Foundation in the year 2019.
One of his notable series, “The Oomph of African Woman,” reflects his admiration for his mother and serves as a campaign for women’s rights, highlighting themes of strength and resilience.
Currently, Edjobeguo is based in England where he is continuing to explore and express complex themes through his innovative sculptural works.
